NBC 50th Anniversary 1976 - 2026 Photographic competition

Photo Competition

Excitement is building for NBC and its 50th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1976 when Fleetwood Mac and Thin Lizzy were in the charts and we had the hottest summer for decades, Newport Boat Club has created so many memories for so many.  For members, old and new, we have pulled together a full calendar of celebratory events for us all to enjoy together.

 
Ahead of these events, the club is hosting a photographic competition running from June – August 2025. We encourage members to submit photographs that reflect their creative interpretation of five category titles. 

  1. Sunsets

  2. On the water

  3. Buildings

  4. Seasons

  5. Abstract

The winners and runners up in these categories will have their photograph(s) included in the 50th anniversary 2026 calendar. This will be available to all members and the local community to buy later this year. 

 We are keen for as many members as possible to take part in this endeavour! The details and terms and conditions can be found on the attached document and on the club website. All proceeds will raise monies for the events being held next year.

 
 

Anniversary Events in 2026

 

Since Easter, a dedicated team has been working together to create a wide range of events for 2026 to celebrate everyone's participation in our fantastic club in its 50th year.  Already in the pipeline are the following: -

  • an anniversary dinner dance

  • crabbing and art competitions

  • events on the water 

  • a duck race

  • live bands

  • 50th tea and cake afternoon

  • fireworks and disco on the August bank holiday
