The present-day rowing section at NBC was formed when in 1999, Ceibwr Rowing Club joined Newport Boat Club.
We row out of Parrog, or from Traeth Mawr (Big Beach) and usually head over towards Pen Dinas (Dinas Head) or Pen Morfa (Morfa Head) enjoying the spectacular views of Carn Ingli as we go.
Our Celtic Longboats
The club owns three 24’ long Celtic longboats, namely Tonnau Glas, George Eaves and Angharad D J. The boats seat four rowers (each with one oar) and a cox. These three vessels form the backbone of the traditional fixed seat rowing, however all types of rowing including kayaks and sliding seat are welcomed.
Although rowing takes place all year round, March to October is the more active time with rowing taking place on different nights of the week and at the weekend depending on the tide. Our rowers vary in age, and we welcome anyone with a reasonable level of fitness to come along and give it a go. Your first two rows are free!
If you are keen and enjoy rowing, there are ample opportunities to row for leisure or to compete for the club in events and races. These are held up and down the Welsh coast as well as further afield with our rowers travelling to Ireland, London, Scotland and France.

Visitors are welcome but if you intend to row on a regular basis, you should be a club member and have insurance through Welsh Sea Rowing at an extra cost of £15.00.
